For me the personal is political. This is why I say proudly that I pledge allegiance to no one but the higher power.

I have never understood the notion of pledging my commitment to a flag and what it represents. As a child, I wondered why I was forced to recite words that made no sense to me and pledge allegiance to the AmeriKKKan flag. I would look at the flag and wonder about the true meaning of the design and intent. My conviction to not pledge to the AmeriKKKan flag still stands as an adult who now understands the emotion and pain of living in a colonized space.

I pledge allegiance to the higher power and energy of Mother Earth. 

I pledge allegiance to my familia and those that love my peoples.

I pledge allegiance to devote my love, passion, and energy to push for critical consciousness and social justice for all People of Color.
